About Us

The Club - Founded in 1988. A jogging club to start with but over the years we have progressed to a full athletic and running club. We have a membership of around 70 people split evenly between Men and Ladies and the ages of 16 and 65 years. We have a thriving Senior and Veteran section who compete in various Track & Field leagues and the Essex Cross Country League. However, many members still prefer Road Races and Endurance Races. There is also a well established Walking Section and the cycling section should you prefer something different. All standards are always welcome - It doesn't matter whether you're fast, slow, large or small, we'll look after you.

What do I do next? - What we basically suggest is try us out and see if its what you are looking for before becoming a member.

How to find us - The club meet on a Tuesday and Thursday evening at the Dagenham Rugby Club at 7.15pm which is located at the pavilion in Central Park off Rainham Road North (see map below). Nearest Underground station is Dagenham East, National Rail station is Romford. You can take Bus number 103 from either of these stations and the bus stops right by the gates to Central Park, in Rainham Road North.

Upon Arrival - We normally have around 4 or 5 different groups from walkers right up to the fast runners. I'm sure we will be able to fit you into a group that will suit.
If you could aim to be there before 7.15pm so we can get you sorted out into a group that's right for you and take it from there. If you could ask for any committee member upon arrival they will look after you (see profile page for details of the committee members).

How do I become a member? - The current membership fees are £10 per annum to join the club, renewable in April. This can give you discounts into organised races and also some sports stores. If you intend on running in official races then you will also need to pay an affiliation fee of £5 to England Athletics. As we train out of the Dagenham Rugby Club you can also become a member there. A Social membership of £10 per annum will give you access to the club. This is only available to members who do not take part in a Sporting activity. A full membership (£30) will give you access to the club and the facilities (bar, showers, changing rooms, toilets) on any day the club is open as well as use of the Club's Qualified Physio (this is renewable in August). This membership is currently being subsidised by the club by £10, meaning you only have to pay £20.

If you require any further info please do not hesitate to contact me. All my details are at the bottom of the home page of the website.

Keep on running
